The Magic Lantern – An affordable price

The seasonal membership card costs about as much as two individual cinema tickets. A reduced price is charged for additional members of the same family. The low-cost membership allows access to almost everyone. The membership card admits its holder to the many film showings organized by the club during the season. It also allows him or her to participate in contests, see film previews or visit film festivals. Apart from the impressive membership figures what should be noted is the astonishing regularity of attendance: nearly 80% of members attend every Wednesday (or Saturday) session. There is no marked difference in attendance between films they have not seen, and films they have already seen on television or on video/DVD. Of course the sale of drinks and food is not authorized at The Magic Lantern sessions. Our young spectators adapt easily to this non-commercial climate and understand that the magic of cinema in itself suffices.
